Item Card / SKU

Hi,

If we use SKU's, is it best practice to create a record for all locations? If not then we should leave the planning / replenishment tabs on the Item card as well as the SKU card right? I don't know if users will be confused if it's in both places?

Alex

    RE: Item Card / SKU

    Hi Alex,

A SKU is a location specific Item Card,

The main use for SKU’s in Navision is to set up a planning replenishment path in a distribution environment.

It also help in Creating :  SKU Cards for Item/Location; Item/Variant; or Item/Location-Variant.

    Best Regards

    RE: Item Card / SKU

    Hi Alex

the biggest (though not the only) reason to create SKUs for location is the ability for the branch/warehouse to define their own replenishment and planning parameters for the item. Some branches/warehouses/locations don't need replenishment and stock planning at all (for example, returns location, or some 3rd party distribution points) so there is little point in creating SKUs for these. However, if the location requires to run replenishment (MRP, MPS) then it would only make sense to create SKU for it. Otherwise, as you rightly said, having some locations using replenishment/planning parameters on SKUs and some on Item card would confuse users.

    Hope that helps.

    Hi Alex,

In my opinion, I think you should create Item SKU's for locations which handle the item.
