It looks like you may need to assign one of the Guides security roles to the user:

Hi SeansTinyCompany, per Brian (thank you Brian) the most common cause of this issue is not having an author role assigned to your user account. A role describes what operations you can perform against the Guides data, such as creating a guide or editing a step. When you install Guides, your environment will be preconfigured with two author roles:

    • Dynamics 365 Guides Author
    • Dynamics 365 Guides Restricted Author

The first role gives access to all guides in your environment, and the second role restricts you to guides that you create yourself or have been made available to you through sharing or other means. You probably want the first role if you just setup a trial. More information can be found here: About the Author and Operator user roles in Dynamics 365 Guides

So, to resolve your login issue, you should first confirm that your user account has an author role that will let you get into the PC app. If you setup the trial, you can assign the role directly to your user account on the Power Platform Admin Center as described here: Assign an Author or Operator role to a user to control whether a user can author a guide or just view a guide. If you are implementing a more complex setup, such as controlling access through Active Directory groups, see here: Assign Dynamics 365 Guides Author and Operator roles to an Azure Active Directory group. There are other ways of managing security as well (such as Dynamics 365 Business Units) but you will need to give me an idea of your setup before I can direct you.

Note: Be sure to assign Basic User to the user account as well.  This role provides the baseline permissions. This step is easily missed.

If that doesn't fix the issue, I would ensure you have a licensed correctly assigned. See Add additional users in Dynamics 365 Guides - Dynamics 365 Mixed Reality | Microsoft Docs. In particular, make sure you have a non-expired Guides license assigned to your account, and make sure you selected all three "apps" as part of the license assignment (Common Data Service, Dynamics 365 Guides, PowerApps for Guides). A screenshot can be found in the above docs.

Let me know if this works,

    Dave Pinch,
    Guides team
