hi
We use weighted average cost model for some products, when we do a positive stock adjustment on these products the value assigned to the transaction is zero.
there can be many of these transactions over the course of a month hence admin to add the cost retrospectively is to much to manage
is there any way that a positive stock adjustment will pick up the current average of the product automatically?
thanks
m
Hello,
You can use closing and adjustment to get all the weighted average cost items which have transactions during the period by the filter, then use DIXF to import them to adjustment journal.
hi Mattguo
correct me if I am wrong, but you suggest
extract all adjustment transactions that have taken place during the month and have zero value
use DIXF to map these transactions to there current average cost
use DIFX to import cost adjustment journal
is that correct?

Hi raff,
System will not pick up weighted average but system can pick the default cost from item master "Manage Cost Tab" . So, to have cost there you have two options:
1. Without Ticking Latest cost price: You can enter a approx cost at item Product information management > Released product > Edit > manage Cost
2. With Ticking Latest cost price: You can check latest cost price option which will dynamically update the cost price field based on weighted average cost on any inventory transaction with status "Purchase" at site level
thanks Saurabh, i think this is just what we where after !
Hi Saurabh,
Thanks for your contribution, this helped me a lot. Do you know by any chance also how is the field "date of price" updated?
I understand that if we want to have all stock adjustments valued at WAC at month end when we close the inventory, that field should always be updated to that last day of the month, right? Is it a manual update? If so, I guess the most efficient way would be updating via data entities? which data entity would we use?
Thanks again!
Also, when you say this:
Are you sure the system will take average cost price for transactions that have financial value or will it take the price of the latest purchase?
With Ticking Latest cost price, the system takes the latest price not the weighted average cost.
if s.o knew how to get the weighted average price in a planified costing version, it would be great.
