AX R2 to R3 Upgrade

Experts,

I have only 2 layers, USR and SYS layer in my environment. I have upgraded my test system and duplicated test system to create a dev machine. I am confused, do i need to delete USR ,USP and SYP layer and then upgrade SYS layer?

    When you upgrade, the R2 SYS and SYP layers should be collapsed into a single SYS layer for you automatically.  If you have any hotfixes installed in R3, then you may have another SYP layer for those, but it will be a different SYP layer and you should not deleted it.

    If you have a USP layer that contains objects, then why did you say you only have a USR layer?  Personally I recommend collapsing your USP changes into USR and keeping the whole thing less complicated.

    Just to give you an background I am upgrading from AX R2 CU8 to R3 CU9. Do i need to upgrade to R3 and then apply hotfix on them ?

    No there is no need to upgrade in steps from R2 CU8 to R3 CU9 that I'm aware of, provided you follow the upgrade documentation properly.
