Great Plains Security

I am impressed by the quick and accurate answers I received the last time I posted. Kudos to all of you!

New question: We recently had a user whose access seemed to change overnight. I first looked through the "User Security" and saw nothing unusual. I looked through tables SY09200, SY10800, SY10600, SY10700, SY09100 and SY09000 for any sign of changes. I could not find recent changes to any of them. Does anyone know what I am missing? Please note that I still am just a novice to this system.

Thanks in advance.

I think, it's seems like some navigation list has been added to GP by new updates.

    Hope this helps!!!

Yes, we did update the system with a recommended patch the night before! Did I forget to mention that? (Hitting head against the wall.) - J Ammons

If there is no recent modify dates in the table list means no one modified the security permission for that users. Maybe they have enabled/added some navigation lists to their login.

Also verify if you have updated any service packs or addition modules/addons to GP systems.

    Hope this helps!!!

Jerry, if there are new features in the navigation windows, one would want to ask if any new features were recently added to the system?

I have not seen many cases of the software deciding to change security or access to the system randomly.  It has been my experience that 'some other event' has to interface with the software.

A user reported that some new functions appeared in the navigation windows. I can get more specific information, but my main question is whether anyone has experienced this behavior (ie, with no recent modify dates in the table list I sent). Since we also use Active Directory, I did not know if this (Active Directory) has been an issue with anyone else.

Also check the modified date from below tables.

    select MODIFDT,* from SY09000

    select MODIFDT,* from SY09100

    select MODIFDT,* from SY09200

    Hope this helps!!!

    Jerry,

How did you identified the user rights changed overnight?

    Hi Jerry,

Please provide more detail about what type of access changed, did the user get any error in particular.  please share the screen shot if any.

    Hi Jerry

Can you elaborate on what changed?  Was it just access to a single screen or completely different roles?

    Cheers

    Heather
