hi there guys.

i'm facing an issue when i open emails on CRM, apparently when they are digitally signed.

the attachments (example: "file.pdf") turn into the file "smime.p7m", making it impossible to read.

is there any workaround on this? has this been fixed?

i'm using CRM 2013 w/ SP1 UR1

Thanks in advance,

RE: email attachments turn to smime.p7m

What if the system only thinks that it is a secure email but infact its a regular email. We have the same problem in our company. Those „secure emails“ can easily be opened by Outlook on the same computer but when they get synchronized into the CRM the pdf attachment is transformed into a p7m file which can not be opened or forwarded.

    My simple question is:

The same email is easily opened by microsoft outlook without any password, certificate or anything else - it just opens incl. the attached pdf file

The same email is synchronized into  Microsoft Dynamics and for no obvious reason is transformed into a p7m file.

    The question is WHY?

Dynamics 365 is working by-design with synchronizing these emails. We do not have a feature for allowing customer to view secure emails via CRM. We will consider this feature for future releases.

Set up server-side synchronization of email, appointments, contacts, and tasks - Power Platform | Microsoft Docs

Hi Abdul, thanks for your reply.

Cryptigo software is a paid one, do you know any other free p7m viewers that can both support Windows and MaxOSX ?

    Thanks in advance,

    Regards,

    Hi tiagosh

An smime.p7m file is a secure email: the content and attachments have been secured according to S/MIME to protect it from unauthorized access. To view the secure content, open it with p7mViewer - the secure mail viewer. You can download p7mViewer from this link

I hope this would resolve your issue.
