Hello, I want to change the service life on all assets in AX 2012. Can I complete the change by updating in Fixed Asset Groups? Thank you!
Hi,
What counts is not the default service life that is specified in the fixed asset groups but rather the service life that is setup in the value models that are linked to your fixed asset.
In other words, you have to update the service life of your assets in the value models that are linked to your assets.

You have used a lot of tags on your question. Please review them and make sure that you only use appropriate tags for your post. E.g. I don't see how your question is related to "Manufacturing" or "Retail".
Ludwig is correct. If you change the service life on the groups, it will be used for new assets. On each asset you can overwrite the default service life when creating a new asset or when they are already in use for some time. You also have to change the remaining periods and test in a UAT environment if the desired depreciation amounts are calculated correctly when creating a new deprecation journal.
