I've seen freight zones and automatic calculations of freight on invoices including the ability to roll up freight into selling prices on a previous version of AX. I thought it was out of the box but I can't seem to find this functionality in AX2009.
Would anybody have any knowledge of this?

I have the same question (0)With standard AX you can setup an auto misc charge per customer/item. This assumes that each customer has only one delivery address and, therefore, just one freight charge.
There is also some new functionality in 2009 with the freight carrier integration. You'll see the setup of that on Terms of delivery and Method of delivery.
We've written a freight calculation mod for an existing customer which auto creates miscellaneous charges based on shipping warehouse location and customer delivery location. It also looks at the weight of the shipment and calculates freight based on both weight and location based on standard rates which you can setup.
