Joining Worker Table with Department Table and their line manager in Talent (Data schema)

Hi,

I am new to Talent and I have been tasked to create a report which includes both the workers info and the department they are in as well as their line manager. The problem I have is that I don't know where the data is stored or how they are all joined together.

For example I know the employees detail is stored in the "worker" table and I need to somehow join that to the "department" table but I'm not sure how to do that and also where the Line manager field is stored.

If anyone has a data scheme for talent that would be a massive help.

Thanks in advance.

Jamie

    Hi Jamie,

You are correct. Talent is another data model. I had created the picture some years ago based on "Dynamics AX" Human resources functionality.

In Dynamics 365 Finance, SCM and Retail, there is a development environment available where also the data model can be analyzed.

Thanks André for getting back to me. It's strange because I dont have any tables named 'Position' or 'PositionHierarchy' and it seems all the tables I can see are prefixed with cdm (not sure if this matters). I did manage to get it working by joining cdm_worker -> cdm_positionworkerassignmenttemp -> cdm_jobposition (using parentID) -> cdm_positionworkerassignmenttemp -> cdm_worker

Is there somewhere in D365 where I can see how all the tables are linked together or if I can search for a field?

    Thanks,

    Jamie

    Hi Jamie,

I have move the question to the Dynamics 365 Human Resources (formerly known as Talent) forum.

Have a look at the picture below. Unfortunately, I can't find the source to adjust the picture to have the Department included. The department is a Reference record ID field on the table HCMPositionDetails which is linked to the HCMPosition table. THe HCMPositionDetails is date effective. It could have multiple versions with a valid from and to date. The reference record ID can be found as RecId on the OMOperationUnitTable.

The picture below shows also the table HCMPositionHierarchy which has a field ParentPosition. From this field you can find the manager position; then the person assigned to the parent position.
