Hi All -

Checking in to see if there is a way to export a control totals/control report for outbound ACH payments when using Electronic Reporting formats? The prompt removes the option to generate a Control Report similar to the out of the box process when using an OOTB Nacha export format.

Thank you for your time!

    When using Electronic Reporting (ER)
formats for outbound ACH payments, you're correct that the standard
control report option available in the OOTB (out-of-the-box) NACHA
export process isn't directly available. However, there are several
    approaches to get control totals:

    Workaround Options

    1. Modify the ER Format:

      • You can enhance your ER format to include control totals at the end of the file

      • Add calculated fields for batch totals, item counts, and dollar amounts

    2. Create a Companion Report:

      • Develop a Power BI report or SSRS report that runs after ACH generation

      • Use the same query logic as your ER format to display totals

    3. Use Intermediate Steps:

      • Generate the ACH file through ER

      • Create a custom job that reads the generated file and produces a control report

    4. Leverage Data Entities:

      • Export the payment data to a data entity before ACH generation

      • Use this to create your control totals separately

    Implementation Considerations

If you need to implement one of these solutions, you would typically:

    1. For ER format modification:

      • Edit your format to add footer records with totals

      • Use ER functions like SUM, COUNT, etc. to calculate control figures

    2. For a companion report:

      • Base it on the PaymentJournal table or related ACH transaction tables

      • Filter for the same criteria used in your ER format
