Setting Default bin for site

(0) ShareShare

Posted on by 10

I have turned on multiple bins and have been testing the functionality before rolling it out to my users.

I have set up default bins for the different transactions as recommended.

When I run the inventory reconciling and linking GP creates a Autocreate bin and puts the inventory available into that bin.

I want to set up a default bin for GP to use but the BIN field on the Quantities/Sites page is grayed out, how do I get it so I am able to populate the default bin?

    Hey Jebradfordjr,

The bin field and the Bins button becomes available when you select an item and mark the Site ID radial button.

    I hope this helps!

GP Power Tools can be used to default values on windows and will work when VBA will not (Windows Server or Webclient).

That is what I thought as well, but as you can see it did not help

I was able to get this to work, but I have to uncheck "enable multiple bins" option in the inventory control.  Once the this option is activated you cannot update the default bin.  That sounds backwards but that is how I was able to get to the field.

    Hello Jebradfordjr,

This would be correct according to the help menu.

    Bin

This field is available only if you’re not using multiple bins.

Enter a bin number that identifies the location of the item at a specific site.

You can enter multiple bin IDs in the Bin field, but quantities will be tracked only for the site, not for each bin.

    Thank you!
