I have a client whose hosting company wants to switch them to Microsoft Catalyst so that they can access their server via Azure Virtual Desktop. I am wondering about the compatibility of GP with that. They are also using Management Reporter and Integration Manager. I want to be sure that these will work also. Thanks!
The issue is that this client is on GP and wants to stay on GP, but their hosting company is trying to move them to this according to the client. It seems kind of weird. I think the hosting company may just want to get rid of using Citrix for their access and go to the Azure Virtual Desktop. Thanks for your feedback.
Shirley,
My understanding is that Microsoft Catalyst is something that wont be applicable to a Dynamics GP enviornment...
From what I could read here appsource.microsoft.com/.../thecrmteam1590432390254.thecrmteamcatalyst1day
This is more about setting the framework for a future D365 environment, like BC, CRM, F&O or the like. I don't think this is going to be useful for a GP to cloud migration, even in Azure.

To me this tool seems to be a replacement for the old Microsoft Dynamics SureStep program..
Hi Shirley,
A quick web search doesn't give me any information on the virtual desktops used in the Microsoft Catalyst program.
Do you have any details on if/how these desktops are customized/configured?
I would check into these details:
Thank you for the response. I also have numerous clients on Azure, but I am primarily interested in the compatibility of the Azure Virtual Desktop that Microsoft Catalyst uses. Does anyone have any information on that?
Hi Shirley,
Not sure about the Catalyst environment, but if the virtual machines are running off Azure, then there shouldn't be any issues... I've migrated several customers now to Azure and they use dedicated SQL & RDS servers for the end-users to connect to GP. They can either setup a RDS Web Proxy server to access from anywhere if needed, or simply create an internal VPN connection to Azure from the corporate network.
Management Reporter (aka MR 2012) requires absolutely Active Directory (AD) to authenticate users. This is something that needs to be clarified before moving to Azure, as if there is no connection between the corporate network and Azure AD, then you need to setup something to authenticate users..
