Dear

I have a case where COGS is not being posted to ledger when a sales order is invoiced. so i investigated and found that the field Cost Price is ZERO in the Inventory On-Hand Form

Although there are receipt transactions to this item,

i was trying to check what could cause the issue i found , i found that the Price update Last Cost Price was not checked,

but i created another item with the same setup and did a receiving and the Cost price field was filled even without this check

the item model group is weighted average

any idea's what to investigate next ?

    Hi Silvano,

Have you compared the other item that you setup with the one that does not have a cost price setup?

Please especially compare the item model group, item type, item group and cost price that is setup for both of those item.

Have you tried running an inventory recalculation?

    Best regards,

    Ludwig

no inventory recalculation has not be run yet, i am pretty sure that issue is due to no settlement between Issue and receipt , but is there a way for me to run this recalculation without affecting ledger first, to check my result ?

    Hi Silvano,

Do you have a test environment where you have the same transactions available?

If this is not the case then you have the option to run the recalculation in your live system and cancel it later on if you really do not want to have it.

The better option is of course doing such 'tests' in a demo environment first.

    Best regards,

    Ludwig

thanks for your feedback, so according to the above , the inventory recalculation should fill the cost price field once it is done , right ?

    Hi Silvano,

I would expect this if your item is setup as you described above and against the background that it works for a similar setup item.

Yet, please test this first to be 100% sure :-)

Would be great if you could keep us updated here.

    Many thanks and best regards,

    Ludwig

    Hi Silvano,

On the item's Storage and Tracking dimension groups, what lines are ticked 'Active' and 'Financial inventory'?

On the item's Item model group, is 'Include physical value' ticked?

    Hey Guy

on the storage dimension group Physical Inventory is Checked at the Warehouse level

    COGS-Storage-tracking.png

    Tracking dimension group is NONE

and yes the include Physical value is checked

I am very much interested to understand the reason, not just solve the issue.

In your first screen shot of the On-hand inquiry, were you looking at your inventory with the Warehouse dimension shown?

When using the On-hand inquiry to look at the cost of your stock, you should use Dimension display to ensure that only Site is visible.

This is because you are tracking financial inventory at the Site level only. Looking at the cost of your stock at, say, Warehouse level will give you odd results, because AX is not tracking cost at that level.

thank guys , that is clear

but even at site level , it is not showing any cost
