Dynamics 365 plugin for Outlook - Unable to Load error

Posted on by 11

We have a user who is unable to use the Dynamics 365 plugin for Outlook due to the following error:

Unable to Load Error:
Dynamics 365 App for Outlook is no longer supported in this version of Microsoft Outlook.
Please upgrade to a supported version of Microsoft Outlook or use the Microsoft Outlook web access in a modern browser.

Troubleshooting we have tried:

1. Remove the plugin and reinstall

2. We have tried with two different versions of Outlook and the same error continues to appear.

Outlook Client Version: 2210 (Build 15726.20262)

Outlook Client Version: 2209 (Build 15629.20258)

3. The end user has the correct role/team rights in Dynamics CRM to use the plugin.

4. It's working for others

5. The end user is able to self-deploy the app from Dynamics CRM

  1. From your app, go to Settings > Advanced Settings.

  2. Select the Settings button pastedimage1671123633358v2.png, again and then select Apps for Dynamics 365 apps.

  3. In the Apps for Dynamics 365 apps screen, under Dynamics 365 App for Outlook, users select Add app to Outlook.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Thank you

Dynamics 365 plugin for Outlook - Unable to Load error
Just checked out the discussion on the Dynamics community about Microsoft Office Professional Plus 2021. Gotta say, I've been using it for a bit now and it's been pretty solid. The new features are slick and it runs smooth as butter on my setup.
For those wondering if it's worth the upgrade, I'd say if you're using Office regularly, especially for work or school, it's a good move. The improvements are noticeable, especially in things like speed and some of the new tools they've added. It's not just about the basics anymore.
Of course, like anything, it depends on what you need from your Office suite. If you're happy with your current version, maybe hold off until you see a must-have feature or your current one isn't supported anymore.

To use Dynamics 365 App for Outlook, you need to use Outlook that supports webview2.

    However, OWA is still available.

RE: Dynamics 365 plugin for Outlook - Unable to Load error

On October 31, 2022, with the deprecation of Internet Explorer 11, versions of Outlook which do not use the Edge Webview2, will not work with the Dynamics 365 App for Outlook.  You may need to upgrade to Outlook 2021 which uses Edge with WebView2 to display the D365 App for Outlook add-in.   See the list of Office Versions here and the browser control used:  learn.microsoft.com/.../browsers-used-by-office-web-add-ins

Office Add-ins use an embedded browser control (known as a webview).   Earlier Outlook versions using Webview use Internet Explorer 11 to display the add-in.   If you are using volume-licensed Office versions, you will need to upgrade to Office 2021, which uses Webview2 and Edge to display the add-in.

Requirements were updated to include "All Microsoft Outlook desktop clients on Windows that use Edge WebView2" here:  learn.microsoft.com/.../support-info-deployment

RE: Dynamics 365 plugin for Outlook - Unable to Load error

We have recently encountered the same issue twice now. On one we changed the primary emailadress in CRM to be inline with Exchange. This fixed the issue.

The otherone seems to be triggerd by a change in the customers hardware virtualisation layer (XenApp) Outlook is published in.
