Hi guys,
Can we browse a data entity ?
Using the usual SysTableBrowser, like ->
https://xxxx.dynamics.com/?mi=SysTableBrowser&prt=initial&limitednav=false&cmp=msde&tablename=SalesInvoiceHeaderV2Entity
In addition, I hit this error while doing it ->
Anyone knows what is that all about?
Thanks
What's your goal in browsing the data entity? Depending on objective you should be able to use something like table browser, but also you can do this using odata endpoints for integration purposes (xxxx.dynamics.com/.../SalesInvoiceHeadersV2) or going directly to the AOT in visual studio if you're trying to understand the entity structure.
Hi Tony zhong,
I assume you actually already tried it, since you even have the correct URL to do so. And, usually the best way to find answers to simple "can I?" questions is to try it. So, I believe you should already have the answer to your own question. Could you share your learnings with us? Thanks!
Generally speaking, data entities are views, and you can use table browser to read views. And you can also put data entity name in the URL. But at least for me it doesn't show any data. But I think you already know all of this, so I'm a bit unsure of the purpose of your question.
You can use the OData endpoint to view entity data as Max Glass mentioned.
Hi Max,
Yes, sorry, I just add it the error I had just now. But to answer your question, I'm investigating some error in my system, which unfortunately I still cannot determine what;s wrong. So I intend to take a look at some particular data entity, but it turns out even the standard entity like SalesInvoiceHeaderV2Entity also causing me an error.
Yes, I can take a look inside visual studio, but I want to know further because I'm using this data entity for Power BI integration.
Thanks,
Hi both,
Yes, and for OData, I'm getting this error ->
what could be the problem ?
If you're trying to access SalesInvoiceHeaderV2Entity, you must use name SalesInvoiceHeadersV2 with "s" before "V2", not SalesInvoiceHeaderV2. You must use the Public collection name of the entity in OData requests.
Your latest error is expected because of this.
"Table browser doesn't support entities viewing"

Ahh thanks,
Well, at least OData is working, but how about those Table browser error ? Reason is I have a problem with some of my Data Entity which I'm using in Power BI. So I'm looking for any clue which may help me to get some idea what's wrong
Anyway, those error in Table browser also happened in standard data entity, may help what is that all about ?
My suggestion is to try to troubleshoot the actual issue that you're having ("problem with some of my Data Entity which I'm using in Power BI"), instead of focusing on the table browser.
Perhaps it would be worth posting a new question where we could discuss your actual problem?
Hi Nikolaos,
Yeah, I would love that indeed. I actually post my actual issue last week, but no clue yet as it is also no direction what should I do or check.
It was in this topic ->
community.dynamics.com/.../power-bi-embedded-error
Btw, from the link provided by Ergur, so it is mean data cannot view by SysTableBrowser then ?
Hi, yes, that discussion seems to indicate that you can't use table browser to browse data entities.
But even without that, a simple attempt to do it already reveals the same answer.
