Windows User changes automatically - NAV 2009 R2

Posted on by Microsoft Employee

We have a strange issue where a users name changes automatically. We went through a process last year where we changed AD usernames from firstname, lastinitial to firstinitial, lastname. For the most part this went fine, but there are a few users who's usernames change back under Tools|Security|Windows Logins. We have tried deleting this user from Windows Login in NAV and recreating and also changing the existing username. By as soon as the next day, the username changes back to the old one.

I checked the SQL DB and made sure the old username was not present. Anyone seen this before?

Hi, did you solved this issue? We have the same problem at the moment.

Thanks for the suggestion. I changed the UPN and SamAccountName for this us back to the old one and then back again using a powershell script. The next day, I check in the classic client under Windows Logins and it changed back to the old name again.

this seems to be an AD issue, not a nav issue.

try to rename the problematic users back to the old name, then again rename to the new name using powershell.

do you have only one domain server? if you also have a backup domain, it could be, that the domain servers are not synchronized.
