You can rename it in SQL, this might be of help: navnilesh.blogspot.ru/.../rename-database-using-sql-query.html
no, it wont create any problems until you hard coded some where.
you need to change the database name in Servicetier and restart the service.

Yes, you can rename database name in SQL, you need to check whether there are any references to the database name in Navision ,SQL stored Procedures or any other apps.
I dont think we can rename database name from NAV but why do you want to do it from NAV only and not from SQL?
