    Hi Jixee,

Contacts are considered as a party in AX and they are always linked to another party. At the time of creation of a contact you have to select the party for which the contact is created.

In your case it looks like you need to change the party linked to the contact and move it to another customer.  I do not think there is a standard process to change party on a contact. I can suggest the following options:

    1. Do a small customization and build a process to move the contact from one party to another. Make sure your developer understands the global address book data model and updates the tables correctly.

    2. If you do not want to build this process then you can also delete the existing contacts and then create it again for the correct customer.

    3. You can also create a file having correct information and then ask your developer to write a job to import the file and update the tables accordingly.

    Hope this helps.

Hi Jixee, How were the existing contacts created? Each contact is associated with a Party as mentioned in previous reply by Rachit. You can check the 'Contact for' field on the contact form. If you would like to associate the same contact with another customer then follow these steps (These are manual steps and if number of contacts are more then please ask your technical team to assist you to do it using customisation): 1. Go to the required customer record in AX. 2. On the ribbon - Customer Tab: Click on the contacts drop down 3. Click on 'Add contacts'. 4. A new form will open. Note that 'Contact id' and 'Contact for' is automatically populated. 5. Enter first name, last name. When you tab out after entering last name a form will open showing you that the contact already exists in Global Address Book. 6. You have two options either to create a new contact or use the existing contact. In your case you have to use the existing contact. Hope this helps.

    Regards,

    Aleem

Go to Home > Area Page > Common > Global Address Book and assign the contacts to a party. You can also merge 2 parties here

Like Mohammed says - if done manually-  you need to go each customer and "Add new contact person". But AX will recognise the name of existing contacts and you select an existing contact person rather than continuening new. This way the same contact person can be added to multiple parties.

Also if you want to remove ("delete") a contact on a customer, you go to the customer and delete (or deactivate). You're actually not deleting a contact, but removing the link between contact person and customer.

From Home > Common > Global Address book, you can see all contactpersons and their relations. But you can't change from here.
