XDS policy with Open in Excel - Dynamics 365 operations

Hi, I have form where I have XDS polcy applied for a role. Thus the user will be able to view only limited records in that form . On using "Open in Excel", it exports all the records from that table which breaks the rule of XDS. Is there any way we can apply XDS while using "Open in Excel"?

    Hi Anitha,

Open in Excel should also apply the XDS logic. If it isn't working, you can open an incident for Microsoft Support.

Personally I would like to know what exact changes you applied for your XSD policy.

    Hi Andre,

    Thanks for your response.

I created a new form with the datasources ReqItemTable, InventDim,ReqGroup.

Users are assigned warehouses in Call Center and they will be able to see only the records related to their warehouse in the above form.

A new data entity is also created for displaying "Open in Excel" option for this form (data sources for this entity is same as used in the form)

I created an XDS policy with main data source as ReqItemTable and the form displays the records properly when the XDS is attached. But when "Open in Excel" is tried ,it exports all the records.

Is it because "Open is excel" framework exports data from the table that we could not impose the XDS restriction?

Do we have any blog on XDS with "Open in Excel"?

    Hi Anitha,

I have created a simple policy on the customers table and tested it. It is indeed bypassing the XDS somehow. This is unexpected behavior as it should enforce the XDS security (in my opinion) when using the excel add-in or any other way of retrieving the data using data entities. Unless the user is system administrator.

I would still suggest to open a support case for Microsoft Support.

    Hi Anitha

Did you raise a ticket with MS? I still see the same misbehaviour in 8.0 PU15.

I have PU21 available, too, will test it there.

Would be nice to see some follow-up for the issue...
