AX 2012 Import Lead Records

Hi All,

I have a requirement of importing leads & business relations into AX. The records are available in Excel. In AX, I could see the option to import leads under the menu

[Sales and Marketing > Periodic > Import > Leads]. However, when I click on the menu item, I get an error

"An administrator must first configure or define a format for the smmLeadsService.create import.".

I am unable to find where to do this and how? Can anyone guide me for this?

Note: I am using AX 2012 RTM with CU5.

Hi Michael,

It looks like this is something to be setup in the incoming ports of the AIF.

Here is a description for AX2009, I'm not sure if they've made any changes but it might take you in the right direction at least:

Hi Michael, Daniel,

There is a change in AX 2012. In AX2012 you need to setup an incoming port. You can find this form under System administration, Setup, Services and Application Integration Framework, Inbound ports.

Create a new port. Click the button 'Service operations'. Then select the operations starting with 'smmLeadsService'.

I think the blog mentioned by Daniel will then guide you further.The transformations can also be managed on the inbound ports.

Hi Andre,

Thanks for the direction. I am able to open the import form now, but, now am wondering where to locate the format that the import classes will accept.

Will check Daniel's link and post back results.

Hi Brown,

I've a requirement to import the leads through a CSV file which I thought of setting up through Sales and marketing/Setup/Import and then scheduling it in Sales and marketing/Periodic/Import/Leads.

Can you share the steps you used to achieve this please?

I assume that you have used this method successfully based on your post.
