Cannot connect to Microsoft Dynamics 2013 R2 new sql server instance

Hello ,

I have installed a new sql server instance of 2012 standard edition ( on a server having an express version of sql server) and restored an existing database to this new instance. After this i added a new server instance in NAV 2013 R2 administration and configured the new instance as the existing one. (so I only changed 'Database Name' dhe 'Database Server' fields, and used the same ports)

Then i stopped the existing server instance and started the new one. Also restarted the necessary services in administration tool.

When I connected to NAV Development Environment with the new sql server instance it worked. But when I tried to run a table from the development environment to NAV client I received the error: "There are no NAV Server instances available for this database. You must ensure that a NAV Server Instance is running and is configured to use the database before you perform this activity."

I tried to access the new server instance from NAV client and also received an error that Server is not ready to server requests.

Can anyone please suggest what might have gone wrong with the configurations?

Thanks in advance.

Please check your event viewer and make sure the service is not stopped. Send the event viewer message.

Open NaV RTC client directly and see if it is working fine and connecting to right SQL instance and database.

Do you have any other NaV version or instance installed on the same machine?

    Hi,

As you changed the SQL Server and moved the database.

But the database connects to the service using a service account (may be Network service or a domain account).

Check that the service account (Account run to run the NAV Services) exist in new instance and have required permission on the database.

What is the user that runs NAV server? Try giving it more rights.

Thank you all for your answers, very helpful. I changed the user rights on the new database instance and now I can open NAV.

    Best regards.

I am facing same issue above, If I run an upgrade table on the development environment, I will need to connect to the server while the connection instance will show me an IP instead of the server name.

Kindly help look into the issue.

    Thank you.
