Is DDMRP working for CW unit items? During the TechTalk: Demand Driven Material Requirements Planning in Dynamics 365 Supply Chain Management (DTT082EXT) it was mentioned that DDMRP works only with Planning Optimization, but we found that the latter doesn't work for CW unit items. The planned and firmed orders do not have the quantity in CW units.

The way the newly introduced DDMRP functionality works in D365SCM is that while the sizing of buffers is done as a separate batch job, all order recommendations are still generated by Planning Optimization. This does mean you are restricted to whatever limitations exist in Planning Optimisation. we can only hope Microsoft fully supports CW planning sooner rather than latter.
If you are then looking for order recommendations that can have Demand Driven based Priority Share rules automatically applied, such as shipping container limits or order value limits, you will also be disappointed. To avoid any Planning Optimisation limitations, as it is not possible to amend the service itself, you would have to considered using a DDMRP focused ISV solution for planning, such as www.b2wise.com.
