D365 CE On Premise testing upgrade from v8.2 to v9 and Product is no longer in the entity list for customization

Currently have D365 Ce v8.2 on premise and have spun server to test upgrade to v9.  During my testing, I had planned to add a custom field to the Product entity.  Now it's no where to be found in the list of entities.

I went to an existing custom entity which had a Lookup with a Target Record Type of Product in my v8.2 environment only to find that when the custom entity came over to v9, now the same field shows the Lookup for the same field as Target Record Type of Account.  The underlying relationship still has the Primary Entity as Product.

I'm usually very proficient searching for documentation, but I'm having no luck finding an explanation for what change has occurred with v9.

Might someone be able to explain or point me to documentation on how I can customize the Product entity and also in creating a new entity how I can create a relationship to Products?

Thank you in advance.

    Hello,

I just checked in my v9 deployment which is at 9.0.14 and I'm able to see Product as listed entity for lookup field. Here is the screenshot -

Can you share the exact version of v9 that you are using or maybe, try to upgrade to latest build and see if it still exists ?

As you can see in the list of entities under Customize Product is missing and looks like a couple others.

I was told by MS on our last upgrade to v8 to never use the production organization during the install.  Let it create a dummy, then later import your production organization.  We did not do that, so I'm thinking that could be part of the issue.  Now that you've confirmed that it's there, I'm going to blow away our test v9 and let it create a dummy first.

It seems that there is a mismatch in App and DB version so, once you upgrade DB to match the app version, i think it should resolve the issue.

It looks like you've somehow got an install that only has the core CDS entities in it. I suspect that, during the upgrade, the process to install the CE entities failed. You may find some useful information in the installation logs, which should be in %APPDATA%\Microsoft\MSCRM\ on the server
