hi

I have been asked to write a sql query to return all fields stored against an Item.

which is obviously easier said than written given the amount of tables involved, which has me wondering does anyone know of a library resource of such already written queries on the web?

does any resource like this exist?

What's your definition of "fields stored against an Item"?

    hi Martin

I mean every possible field you can view in ax when you enter the item

from unit costs, financial dimensions, gtins

basically any information it has, does Microsoft have any prebuilt views like this?

No, there is not such a view; it doesn't sound very useful.

If you want all tables from a given form, look at its data sources.

maybe I am just being lazy :)? but it sounds like something useful that someone would already have !

The problem is that "everything" is too vague and subjective. You could end up with almost all AX tables, because they are in some way related to items. Any real problem requires some particular set of data and the scope of "everything" depends on context.

Maybe you would find useful queries like AxdItem, but it's impossible to say whether it meets the requirement of your particular business scenario.

    hi Martin

i think you are right, it would be to vague and subjective and it would be a bit of mess!

in fairness I didn't even think of looking up the form name and taking the datasources from there so you have already been very helpful to me :)

    thanks
