Doubts on change based alerts and due date alerts

We are about to create rules for field modification and due dates.

Also there are few rules we have created for the same in our D365FO environment, but the batch jobs haven't scheduled yet.

As per my understanding we need to create rule and schedule the respective batches(System administration -> Periodic task -> Alerts -> Change based alerts and due date alerts) and after that only the events will get executed, like mails would be triggered.

I need some clarifications,
1. For the field modifications(i.e., Change based alerts), will the changes done in those specified fields previously before scheduling the batch but after creating the rule will also gets triggered and will we get mail or it gets triggered only for the modifications done after the batch job is scheduled?
2. For due dates will the previous due dates also get triggered and will we receive mails for those previous due dates also or only for the due dates which are falling after the date batch job is scheduled?

Thanks in advance!

I believe that once you've setup your alert rules, the system will start identifying records that meet the criteria. Once the batch job runs, it will send out the alerts that were created in the interim.

I assume the same would happen for the due-date alerts as well.

    Hi Keerthanaa,

As Morgan said system initially will consider and send alert events/notification from creating the rule. Further batch will be processed based on last run. Find more details on batch processing of alerts in below link.

Morgan Bazin and Prem ax Is there a way to clear all the queued notifications before scheduling the batch?

    Hi Keerthana,

I don't think we can clear pending notifications. However you can turn off "send email" option at alert rule if you do not want to send emails for your first batch run.
