Is it possible to run an inventory close in ax 2012 for a single product item?
When you go to inventory close I don't see an option for that. Please advise

You cannot run an inventory close for a single item.
What you can do instead is running an inventory recalculation for a single item.

Thanks, does this mean that, after the inventory recalculation when I run the inventory close they will not be any further adjustments posted?
Echo with Ludwig, since the cost adjustment for items may impact other, for example pass the adjustment from child to patent, to keep the cost accurate, the inventory close is executed for the whole item list.
And instead, inventory recalculation can be run for a single item
