Dear all,

We are trying to put a GL account with negative value in Sales return order but couldn't post it with following error message: Amount must be negative in Gen.Journal Line Journal Template Name=",Journal Batch Name="Line No.='0'

Hi Jeremy,

As Suresh stated, you do not need to make it negative on the sales return order line. It will already come in negative. If you want to charge the customer a restock fee, you can utilize a misc charge. I have attached an image of an example I did. Set restock % to 10%, then calculated restock fee.

Jeremy,

Use the Item Charges as Type for that, please review the below link which has the same scenario for the sales allowance.

Hi Suresh,

We need to charge customer restock fee. That's why we have to put a GL account as negative amount for restock fee income.

You don’t need to enter it as negative, the return order takes care of it during posting
