Hi. A client has raised an issue whereby the sales tax has been wrongly calculated on an vendor invoice journal voucher transaction that has been posted. After investigations i found that there is a difference between  calculated sales tax amount and the actual sales tax amount on the voucher.  The calculated sales tax amount is the correct one but the journal as already been posted.

    Hello Alexio,

Users can overwrite the sales tax when they post invoice documents.

    As an example:

Image that your vendor shows $5.01 tax on the invoice and that the tax configuration in D365FO calculates $5.00.

Then a user can manually overwrite the tax amount.

That is usually fine for small $ differences but in your case the difference seems large.

To get it corrected, you can create a new invoice journal and enter a corrective invoice where you overwrite the sales tax as it was done the first time to get the $211.41 corrected.

Once that is done, create a new and fresh invoice where you post the invoice with the correct tax as needed.

    Best regards,

    Ludwig

    Hi Alex,

As Ludwig mentioned, looks like user might have changed the field 'acutal sales tax amount' manually while posting the transaction.  So in this case, you can post a manual general journal to the extent of difference of (211.41 - 167.91 = 43.5) to tax account (from ledger posting profiles) using sales tax code to vendor account. Please test the suggestion.

    Hope this helps !!.

    Thanks,

    Sreepriya.
