How to track actual scrap variance during production

What is the purpose of setting up 'scrap account' in the production paramer and as well during production end.

My intention is, i need to track the actual material scrap during production process.

For ex:

my FG is 'T-Shirt'

Raw material is 2 mtr of cloth.

But if the material is consumed only 1.5 mts and rest of 0.5 mt is my scrap means [we can use picking list journal to specify consumed qty is 2 mts and scrap is 0.5 mt]

After production end, The costing will be calcuated based on 2 mtrs only, that is absolutly correct.

But how can i track that 0.5 mts as scrap in the posted ledger transactions.? Is that 'Scrap Account' in the production end process will help to show my actual and scrap variance?

Please share your input.

Thanks,

Prabu S

I think you have to setup this scrap as a by-product...

You can set parameters to control how the system posts scrap during updates.

1.Click Production control > Setup > Production control parameters.

2.On the Standard update tab, in the Scrap method field, select the method that you want to use to post scrap to the ledger when you calculate the consumption of items and operations resources. If you selected Scrap account, you must select the account to use in the Scrap account field. In cost accounting, this is for the error quantity reported. You can change the selection before you perform cost accounting. Cost accounting is performed when production orders are completed.

    Please verify,

    Dear Prabu,

In our dear ax2012 R2 version there is no way to track the scrap / loss / error 'Quantity', but we can get the 'Amount' of scrap / loss / error quantities made.

Quantity = (scrap / loss / error) = no where to track

Amount = (scrap / loss / error) = only if Scrap account is selected. We can get amount of scrap of FG (posted) items only, not the Amount of extra consumed RM (until and unless you specified it in as actual consumption Quantity)

    I hope u understood this.
