RDLC Layout Alignment isn't proper even after giving every possible try. Could anyone please help?

ReportReport

I'm using RDLC layout for designing a cheque report, the clients will be placing actual cheque SBI cheque leaf and taking a print on it via Business central.
All other fields like
1. To Pay
2. Amount in words
3. Account no.
4. Amount etc all are coming in exact place

BUT date field which is at top right corner never aligns with my existing layout, I tried 100 different combinations but it always come little down than where it is expected.
Even i tried to place date field in header and top most position but still it gets printed below than where its expected.
I doubt its happening bcoz pdf document by default adds its own margin space at top and even other sides as well.

Any idea how to overcome this. Please help if anyone knows this.

    Hello,

You can set the page margin in RDLC from Report Properties. You might have set the top margin in the layout, which is why it may be leaving extra space. If it is already set to zero, then another possible reason could be a printer issue or placement issue.

If you need further help, can you share the exact RDLC format you are using? I’ll be happy to help.

Hope this helps resolve your issue.

This is a common issue with RDLC cheque layouts, especially for fields placed at the extreme top like the date.

RDLC and printers introduce a small top non-printable margin, which causes the field to shift slightly downward during printing. That’s why only the date (top-right) is getting affected while other fields are fine.

You can try the below fixes:

    1. Set all RDLC page margins to 0 cm (Report Properties → Page Setup).

    2. Move the Date textbox slightly upward using Top value (e.g., 0 cm or -0.2 cm). This is a commonly used workaround for cheque layouts.

    3. Ensure printer settings are:

      • Scale = 100%

      • No “Fit to Page” or scaling options enabled

    4. If still not perfect, do small trial adjustments (±0.05 cm) based on actual print output.
    5. You can set the page margin in RDLC Report Properties. You might have set the top margin in the layout, which is why it may be leaving extra space. If it is already set to zero, then another possible reason could be a printer issue or placement issue.

This behavior is mainly due to printer hardware margins + RDLC rendering, not a layout mistake.

The issue seems related to the margins either in the RDLC layout or on the printer itself.

Some printers cannot print very close to the edge of the page. Try printing a Word document with small margins and see if the printer can print close to where the date is supposed to be. That should help confirm whether the issue is with the report layout or the printer settings.

    Try a different font.
Or add a blank line. Perhaps this can solve the problem.

    Thanks.
