    Hi,

This is not possible in Microsoft Dynamics AX as it is not allowed according to accounting standards.

Hey Andre - I know most accounting systems (JDE, MAS90/200, etc) support unbalanced or single sided entries based on certain security restrictions, strange that AX does not. The situation we are in is that due to a data migration/customization issue, our GL is unbalanced. Any thoughts on how to correct this if single sided entries are not possible?

In this case the data migration/customization failed. If it is an opening balance I would suggest to start over.

In any other scenario you need to find out what was posted and what should be posted. Can you tell anything about this? Is it related to wrong amounts or missing entries?

I do hope this is a test environment. If it is production, was it tested correctly?

If you use standard VoucherObject classes for posting to the GL, there is no way you can insert unbalanced transactions in AX. So if it is not possible to enter unbalanced transactions if you use AX properly, there is no need to have an option to insert single sided entries. I think it is strange that other systems do support this.

It looks like something is inserted, modified or deleted in/from the account entry tables directly?

Well, good news in a way. It turned out that management reporter was just missing an account on the balance sheet report. Based on your input, I ran a query to see if there were any transactions that were out of balance...there were not. So it seems as though your statement that the VoucherObject class does not allow this is correct. Thanks!

Thanks for the feedback. I was not aware you had only lookwd at management reporter. In a way I'm interested why MR had a missing entry. Could you find anything in the MR datamart sync log?
