Closed as Won

Hi,

Can anybody tell me where I can find the settings in Dynamics to configure when an Opportunity is automatically Closed as Won.

A few of our Sales team have noticed when qualifying leads over the last few days that the Opportunity that is created is then automatically Closed as Won and obviously Read Only too. It seems to be happening pretty randomly and I have tested it myself on multiple occasions and its not happening when I qualify leads. Looking at the Timeline in the 'Won' opportunity I can see an auto post showing 'Opportunity Completed' immediately after the 'Lead Qualified'. I cant get any further informtation from opening the 'Opportunity Completed' activity.

Thanks a lot,

Ted

    RE: Closed as Won

    Hi,

    Thank you for your query.

There is no setting to auto-close the opportunities.

    The possible causes are:

    • Process (workflows): you need to go through Activated Processes to understand if any process is the cause of closing opportunities. You can find the process here:
      • Go to Advanced Settings -> Processes.
      • Choose Activated Process views, sort by Primary Entity "Opportunity".
      • Go through each process to understand if any of these causing this issue.

Please note, it is not necessary that process with the primary entity Opputnity is the cause of trouble it could be because of other processes as well.

    • Microsoft Flows: if you use PowerAutomate flows, you need to see if any of the flows closing the opportunity.
    • Plugins: if a Process and Flow is not causing this, it is possible a custom plugin is registered is closing opps. You need to download Dynamics 365 SDK and use the Plugin Registration tool to see registered plugins.

To diagnose, you can try the following steps:

    • Try to identify what is common in closing opps? Any data? Closing Date (number of Days)? Customer Type? This will help you to identify the scenario.
    • Also, note if opps are closed immediately or after sometime, this would let you identify if it's happening real-time or async. If it's real-time, you can forget about PowerAutomate flows, cause these are async.

    Let me know your findings.
