Negative Physical Stock

Dear Experts,

I`m having a trouble with some ``negative physical stock`` that doesn't exist in any of the location in our warehouses and is affecting our available physical stock in other locations. Item model group tick box for negative stock is disabled. Stock haven't been reserved or blocked by any of quality/work orders. We have tried to do quantity adjusment with error message ``stock dimension location must be specified`` but there's no locaiton to be selected. As you can see in picture below - we have stock in 3 different location in total of 14`873, as there's negative stock of -12`873 in no-location our total available stock is only 2`000.

Is there a way to clear this ``negative physical stock`` , so then we can use our remaining stock we have on-hand? What might cause this kind of issue?

Hi Viz,

On the Storage dimension group of the item, can you tell us:

On the Location line, is 'Blank receipt' or 'Blank issue' allowed?

Are there any lines where 'Active' is ticked, which do not also have 'Physical inventory' ticked?

Or even better, a screenshot of the storage dimension group.

Hi Viz, From which table did you extract the data? Are you sure that the total stock qty is negative as we do only see a part of your data in the screenshot above. Can it be the case that this is just a periodic Problem that you can also see in the inventory value Report when you receive goods in one period that get invoiced in a later one? Any additional information might be helpful. Thanks, Ludwig

Hi Ludwig,

It`s data from Stock Management / on-hand. Total is not negative , it's just that line that affects our in-total available physical stock for works orders or any other stock adjustment. I`m not 100% sure if it's periodic as the negative quantity have changed time to time. I`ve also checked each location transaction summary of issued/purchased and none of the line have any discrepancies.

Hi Viz,

I think in a Transfer order scenario, if the stock is in a Transit warehouse, it might not have a location. Other than that, I can't see how you can have physical inventory with no location. And I can't in any circumstance see how your setup would allow negative physical inventory.

Can you go to Inventory management -> Inquiries -> Transactions -> Transactions, and use Advanced Filter to build the following filter:

Does it show any transactions?

Can you show the transaction for the on-hand record? Just create the inventory on-hand you exported to excel in the first post and click "transactions".

It could very well be that InventSum is out of order for some reason. You can then regenerate InventSum to fix it, but we would need to see if there is a reason for this first.

Hi,

Guy, when I tried to use advanced filter for all transaction it was showing me blank, unless I used wrong filters. As per Fredriks request - I`ve exported all transaction in excel and put filter on for all ``blank location``

I`ve also checked each one to make sure it has pick&put location allocated. I`m a bit confused what could possibly go wrong.

Edit: I just checked 2 different picking works for the same works order.

Is there a way to re-open posted picking list and do some adjustments? Or is there any other way to fix this negative quantity?

Hi Viz,

On the broken 'Work stock transaction', on the 'Overview' tab, the 'From transaction' links to a real stock transaction. Go to this stock transaction (use 'View details') and look at the Location. Is the Location blank on the stock transaction?

HI Viz,

Can you plz share on hand form of the AX instead of the excel screenshot.

Also apply size, colour and configuration filters along with storage dimension for better analysis.

Hi Guy,

I just looked at "From Transaction" view details and yes , location has been left blank. I assume this is the reason why we got this negative stock. What I`m more concerned about is that the original "Work" has pick/put location allocated and our item model group settings wouldn't allow stock go into negative value. Is there a way to adjust this value? Any suggestions are welcome
