Dyanmics CRM 365 Developer Toolkit SDK-V9.0 for VS 2017

Hello All,

Has anyone used Developer toolkit for sdk dll V9.0? I referred to tweak mentioned in blog https://alphabold.com/guide-to-install-microsoft-dynamics-365-developer-toolkit-extension-into-visual-studio-2017/

But it seems working only for Dynamics CRM 365 Sdk-V8.0, not working for V9.0. This could be because earlier toolkit built on .net framework 4.5.2. Please suggest if we have any tweak to make it work for V9.0.

    Hi Jayashree

    Yes, you are right, the tweak only allows to get the toolkit working on VS2017 but it still uses V8 DLLs not V9.  That means things like OptionSetValueCollection classes and other new features introduced in V9 wont be available.

    The toolkit can only use V9 DLLs if the tool creators release a new version with references to V9 DLLs.  I have even done a decompile of the DLL to see if the DLLs are referenced directly and I can confirm that tool has reference to V8 DLLs.  So we can't get this working just by dropping V9 DLLs in the extension folder. We have to wait until a new version released for this to work with V9 DLLs.

    However, there are few other options

    01. You could try a different tool like the one suggested above or

    02. You could update your plugin or workflow project to use V9 DLL and use the plugin registration tool to deploy.
