Hi All

AX 2012 has the option to create the Onetime customer and Customer.

What is the difference between Onetime customer and Customer ?

I did not understand the in which scenario we need to go with Onetime customer option .

would you know if this works in AX7 Uploads through Data Management - loading sales orders from ecom system?

You can create a 'one-time' address on, for example, a Sales order. The address becomes linked to the sales order, but not the customer.

So there is no difference between one time customer and customer , except some default data will flow during one time customer creation.

Rest of all the functionality is same .

I've used one-time customer heavily before.

First, you create a single customer to use as a template and set it up with default values as needed.  Specify this customer account in Accounts receivable parameters.  I like to give this customer a special account number, i.e. ^ONETIME, and set the customer as Stopped at All to prevent its accidental usage.

Then, when creating a new Sales order, check the one-time customer box, and a new customer will be created at the same time that the sales order is created.  The number sequence for one-time customers can be different from manually added customers.  The one-time customer box on the customer record is for reference only once created.  There is nothing special about one-time customers except for how they are created.

    Hi lally,

You can automatically create a "one-time" customer on the fly that is created with the setups specified by a template. I have not seen many companies using this feature as most companies often have long-term customer relationships and customer-specific terms and conditions. I could imagine that the one-time customer functionality is often used in retail.

    Hope this helps,

    Ludwig
