Checking the workflow originator before the rest of the hiearchy in a PO workflow

Hi,

I'm building a hierarchial workflow for purchase orders. Up to 1000$ the WF should run on the hierarchy steps until the Regional Maintenance Manager has approved the PO.

The problem is that if the Regional Maintenance Manger himself/herself submits the purchase order, it doesn't check to see if the workflow originator is a Regional Maintenance Manager and instead starts the approval from the next step in the hierarchy (which is not needed for POs under 1000$).

I tried adding a Conditional Decision but in the conditions I cannot check the Employee's information (to find out wether he\she is a Regional Manager) and only the user's information, which is identified as a Regional Manager only through its Relations to the Employee.

How though could I identify that the user as a Regional Manager in the WF process ?

Thanks a lot.

I am unsure whether you could do this check out-of-the-box or not, but you may get your developers to create a Custom workflow hierarchy-provider class. That can be selected in the workflow setup, and you may implement it the exact way how you want it. We have used this to check who is the originator, should the approval go to the next person up one level only (EU chain), or if it should go straight to the right manager who has the correct signing limit by jumping multiple levels (US chain).

    Hi Waller,

It is possible to create a calculated field on the workflow document class. On the PO there are currently some calculated fields like a delta amount. You can add a calculated field starting with the pattern 'parm...' (e.g. parmIsRegionalMaintenanceManager)

This calculated field can be used in the conditional decision.
