Cannot delete items from items table NAV 2017

Hello,  I have a fresh install of NAV 2017.  I uploaded items with the rapid start tool and had a few junk items get caught in the mix.  No sales or transactions have ever occurred on this company and I get a error while trying to delete the item.

Error Message:  You do not have the following permissions on TableData Item Identifier: Delete

I am a super user and a super user (data)

I have checked security permission on the server and I have a user role that should be able to delete.

Any suggestions.

Chad

You are exactly right.  I for some reason had 1 record on that table.  i am not sure how it got there.  Looks like it has something to do with maybe cross reference numbers or something.  Either way, I removed the record, restarted NAV server and it now allows me to delete.  Thank you.

RE: Cannot delete items from items table NAV 2017

    Hi Chad,

The Item Identifier is part of the Automated Data Capture System (ADCS) functionality in NAV, that is only available with the Extended Pack. Per what you have shared in a subsequent message, your license only contains access to the Starter Pack, and not the Extended Pack.

MSDN article showing that Item Identifier belongs to ADCS: https://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/hh898906(v=nav.90).aspx

Screenshot of Appendix C from NAV 2017 Licensing Guide:

    ADCS.JPG

What you are experiencing is consistent with what happens when a user tries to access an object they do not have access to through their license. You cannot run the object. Attempting to design the object gives you the no permission error. Adding more permissions will not help.

I can't explain how/why you ended up with something on the Item Identifier table, but your best bet is to call your partner (whose NAV license WILL have access to the Extended Pack) so they can briefly switch your license for theirs, correct the issue by removing all records in the Item Identifier table, and then put your license back in.

This will clear up the issue, and you will be able to delete any Item that does not have any transactions posted against it.

I hope this helps. If my response has answered your question, please verify by clicking Yes next to "Did this answer your question?"

    Hi,

In your permission Set Just Keep only "Super" & Remove the Super(data) and try to delete the item.

    Hi Chad,

you are supposed to be able to delete the item, when you have the SUPER permission.

But could you try creating a new permission for item table and item identifier table delete, assigning it and trying again.

    Regards,

    Hasitha J

The error reads exactly as you stated.

I also cannot design table 7704 item identifier.  I tried a "run" on it and nothing happened.  Trying a "design" on it produced a permission error

Also I have gone to table 27 and tried to specifically give it a permission

I would point to license, can you check if you have permission for table Id. 7704 Item Identifier. Try to run this table.

    Hello Appletree,

As per other members, check all, And Send us screenshot of error that you got while deleting Item.

    Note: Also check, OnDelete Trigger of Table and page, it might be error called something like;

    ERROR('You do not have the following permissions on TableData Item Identifier: Delete');

if it so, then you can't delete also.

    Hi,

Please check the company that you are in. If it is company specific permission set, then you have to change it before deleting.

Yes this user is the only user in the system at this point.  it is a fresh install.  It has permission set SUPER and Permission Set Super (data)  I would not think  licensing would have a problem but here is my license details just in case

    350 Starter Pack                                                           1

    450 Full Concurrent CAL                                                    5

    8100 Codeunits (each)                                                     10

    Country Code: United States                                                1
