Hi,

Does any one know what rule AX utilize if I don't check either FIFO or FEFO in Item model group setting ?

Item reservation in Account receivable parameters is automatic.  Items are batch track controlled.

Now, AX automatically reserve the item when I input SO line but i am not sure which rule AX follows.

    Dear Tom,

I believe if you don't check either FIFO or FEFO in Item model group setting system will do reservation based on 1st receipt and 1st issue if your item is batch controlled.

Please have a look to below link for your understanding.

    Hello Prashant Kumar,

    Thank you for your response.

Could you give me more detail about the difference between FIFO and "1st receipt and 1st issue"?

    Thank you,

I do believe that date controlled will check the dates. If not selected it will go by an alphanumeric sorting. Meaning if you received batch B on 01.01.17 and batch A on 02.01.17. Picking would suggest to pick batch A first.

    Dear Tom,

As I said if you have a batch control item and your item model group says FIFO. System will reserve the that item which is having earlier expiry date by default.

This blog post suggests that AX will reserve based on the location with the lowest Location Id. Fredrik says it will reserve based on lowest Batch Id. And Prashant says it will reserve on earliest expiry date.

Would you mind to test and let us know which it is!!!

    Hi Guy,

I uncheck the FIFO and FEFO date-controlled in Item model group reservation setting.

    The test results as below.

    - If Batches don't have Expiration date, it will be reserved from the lowest Batch number.

    - If Batches have Expiration date, it will be reserved the earliest expiry date.

Please let me know if you have any questions.

    Hi,

I don't think that system will consider earlier expiry date if Batch have Expiration date.

System will consider Lowest Batch number only.
