How to select multiple Business Units

I have created a custom entity called Supplier Registrations.  I want to list all the Business Units that are registerd.  Normally I would greate a N:N relationship between Suppoier Registration and Business Unit but CRM2011 does not seem to allow N:N relationships with Business Units.

Does anybody have any ideas how to do this?

    Hello Michael,

Can you please give me some details on how the Supplier Registration is to be tied to the business unit? How does the sharing take place? I might be able to give you a few ideas then.

    Hi Michael,

You are correct, cannot create N:N from Business Unit entity, it happened in CRM 2013 as well.

The only way here is you create a manual N:N Relationship here:

    1. Create an entity so-called Supplier Registration - Business Unit

    2. Create N:1 from the custom entity created from number 1 to the Supplier Registration

    3. Create N:1 from the custom entity created from number 1 to the Business Unit entity.

So that you are creating N:N (manual) between Supplier and Business Unit.

After that, configure Quick Create enable it, then create Quick Create form for the custom entity created from number 1, do not forget to make Supplier and Business Unit lookup field as mandatory fields.

See the magic there once you care in the Supplier Reg, put the Subgrid to the custom entity created from number 1, then click + it will open the form to you to select the related Business Unit.

That is how to create N:N relationship.

    Hope this helps.

    Thank you.

Thanks for your reply.  One example would be there is a Supplier Registration called Achiellies.  Some of our Business Units are registered with it.  There is another called FPAL and a different set of Business Units are registered with it.

    Magor

We have a number of Business Units in our company and they bid for work in separate technical areas to the same set of Customers.  Several of these Customers require us to be registered.  This Supplier Registration is a specific Entity, with a defined Owner.

Business Unit A may have registered with Customer A but this registration may also include Business Unit B, Unit C, etc.  It is this information we need to record on the Supplier Registration.

Any ideas greatefully received, though if the issue is resolved in CRM 2105 we may be able to wait.

    Michael,

If got impossible situation to add N:N Relationship with OOB entities in CRM, you can have workaround by creating Manual N:N Relationship as explained before.

    Thank you :)
