Testing Odata with postman

We are trying to test ODATA with Postman and we managed to do that using the below link

https://docs.microsoft.com/en-us/dynamics365/fin-ops-core/dev-itpro/data-entities/third-party-service-test

the issue is that this link uses client Secret to access the ODATA,  however, we need to use the username and password to access the ODATA, is that possible?

is there any guide to do that?

Thanks in advance,

Mina.

I have the same question (0)

    Hi Mina,

The client Secret to access the ODATA is Essential. You must follow the step to Register Azure App.

Base on your requirement I assume the users are not using MFA. Give below a try in that case,

(+) Dynamics 365 Online Authenticate with User Credentials - Microsoft Dynamics CRM Community

I couldn't test this as I don't have access to an account with MFA off.

The issue is we won't be able to  differentiate the action done by each user or we will have to make separate app registration for each users, what is the solution in this case?

    Hi,

There is no seperate app registration for each user.

All the users in the Organization belong to the same tenant. So app registration can be created by the user who has admin access to the portal . Once created, Client Id, Secret and tenant ID can be shared to the team .

the issue here is that we won't know which user in the team does a certain action or transaction as all are sharing the same client ID and client secret, we need to find a way to track who did each action.

    Thanks,

    MIna.

I dont think it is possible to track the users during integration. We have  a common integration user set up in FO and that is mapped in System Adminstration -> Set up -> Azure Active Directory applications.

May be you can ask the users to pass their data with a suffix or prefix. For instance, if user X is creating sales order, the field 'SalesOrderName' can be prefixed or suffixed with the user id to identify the user.

    Otherwise it is not possible.

can we use authorization code grant flow instead of client credentials?

also, is it supported with an On-premises environment?
