Revenue recognition for SaaS companies

Posted on by Microsoft Employee

Hi! we're a start-up company and our product is a SaaS subscription. We've implementing Dynamics NAV, but our local partner (we're located in Spain) doesn't have this specific solution (specific software for managing revenue recognition, deferrals..). Could you recommend a partner for this?

Thank you so much!

    Hi Veronica,

since I've just come across a similar use case, maybe it might be useful to talk to exigy, http://www.exigy.com/. They have a prepayment customization that does revenue recognition. A customer of them is using it together with our multi-currency AddOn.

Also refer to Service Contract functionality: msdn.microsoft.com/.../hh178015(v=nav.90).aspx

Hi! thank you so much for your reply! I'll have a look at deferral functionality but I'm afraid it's not enough. We have thousands of paying users, different prices, different periods, and would need to connect Nav to our platform and manage all this info, so we can obtain monthly revenue, as we sell 12M, 3M..subscriptions

    Hi Veronica,

I agree with Jens - the standard NAV2017 has deferrals functionality that works well. Have a look at it first before any add-ons

    Hi Veronica,

somewhat puzzled... standard NAV (since version 2016) does contain a deferral functionality. The 2017 iterations of it look pretty reliable, too.  Are there any VAT or tax related issues that go beyond the standard functionality?

    with best regards

    Jens
