Copy limited number of production records to sandbox

I would like to copy our production environment down to our sandbox with a limited number of records - say the most recent 500 opportunities, or only opportunities entered after 8/1/2017.  How can I do this?

    I don't think there is an easy way (for each opportunity, it's also the products, accounts, contacts, leads, etc) Might be easier to copy production to sandbox then delete whatever you don't need:

    docs.microsoft.com/.../copy-instance

    Yes, that's what I'm doing, but the full copy puts our storage over 80% so I'm getting the warning about approaching our storage limit.  I'm trying to free up storage using this Technet article, but so far it's not had enough of an impact on storage.
