Price inclusive of Sales Tax

Hi morning,

I would like to ask if the Selling price is inclusive Sales Tax. When the system detected the delivery address is Sales Tax exempted, will the price be re-gross to exclude/deduct to without Sales Tax? If yes, how to setup this?

Best regards,

Sean Yu

RE: Price inclusive of Sales Tax

    Hi Sir

Selling Price is inclusive Sales tax if it is setup on the Customer.  Accounts Receivable > Customer > Select 1 Customer >Edit > Customer Tab > Invoice and Delivery > Sales tax

You can setup Sales Tax group by right click > View details

Kindly mark as verified if this helps.

    TIA

No, the computer cannot "guess" what was the price without tax, if there is no tax set up on the order, and all there is a price (supposedly including tax....)

Maybe with the advent of AI computers can learn how to read minds but I don't think we are there quite yet.

That's the way retail works i.e. the price on the shelf is expected to be VAT inclusive - and you can certainly set up  that way via Retail module.. Ax does not have to guess, it knows the final price and the VAT rate so can calculate.

RE: Price inclusive of Sales Tax

I believe the original question is not whether it is possible to setup prices to be inclusive or exclusive of sales tax. ofcourse the answer to that is "Yes" and that's true not just in the retail module but everywhere.

The question is when prices were set up in the system as inclusive of tax, and the client is tax exempt

so price = 100, VAT = 20%, price set up in system is 120, and the system can use that number, and the fact that VAT calculation says "20%" to reverse calculate 100 and post that amount into net revenue.

The problem comes when the client is tax exempt.

    the price is still 120.

VAT group/Item VAT group result with 0% tax.

Now how much the client should be charges? less 20%? 50%? 10%? the system has no way of knowing.

    Hi Sean

If your question is related for sales using sales orders, I suggest that your sales prices do not include sales tax. If sales tax has to be added the unit sales price is determined by the sales tax group selected on the customer in combination with the item sales tax group on the item. If you use this setup you can have different tax rates for different items and still calculate, invoice and post the sales tax with the correct amount.

    Kind regards

Typically for B2B I agree but not for B2C -from some regions it is a statutory requirement that the shelf price is VAT inclusive,
