Use "=" in Item No. Series

Hi,

I am using NAV 2013. I have a question about naming Item No.s.

Can I use  "ABC=DD100"  as an Item No.?   Do I need to set up No. Series?

This is a Parent Item. I did add a new Item called   "ABC=DD100".  When I want to add components to the Assembly BOM, it tells me "ABC=DD100" cannot be found (Item).  Can someone explain it?

You should not use '=' in Item Code in NAV 2013, 2016 version. At times, system would not allow you to create the Item Code having '=' sign in the code.

Also, it would not recognized in other forms as well. If at all needed, better use space in between.

    Hi,

Totally agreed with Alexander. Adding to what he said, instead of using symbols which may affect the filters, you can use hyphens, and underscores. (My senior functional consultant says he suggests the users to use underscore - his preference).

    Hope it helps.

Personally, I would not recommend to use system symbols in the code field type. Those are used in the filtering expressions and might be misleading for the system
