Bug with Phantom inserts on firmed planned productions?

(0) ShareShare

When we have a BOM with a Phantom line, the material gets inserted when the ProdBOM is created.

When that Phantom item has a qty of 2, 2 times the material should go to the ProdBOM. This works when you create a new production from scratch. But for some reason, it doesn't when firming a planned production order.

The resulting ProdBOM will have only 1x the material instead of 2x, like the Phantom item's qty is set.

Any idea what is wrong?

AX Version is AX2012 R3 CU11

Add a production group or Pool to the items and filter then out of the planned orders.

Sorry you are saying of you make 2 of a parent the following happens:

    1. Manually create an order, process and ProdBOM needs 2 of the phantom items

    2. Firm a planned order and the ProdBO needs 1 of the phantom items (not the 2)

    I have BOM A:

    2x item B, Phantom

    BOM B:

    500 SQ of C

When manually creating an order for 2x item A, I get a production with

    2 x 1000 SQ of C

But when I get a planned order that I firm for 2xA, when the order gets firmed into a production, I get:

    2 x 500 SQ C

    Found the problem/solution.

Turns out if the Template doesn't have a planned order, the "bug" happens.

But if you make sure each Template has a planned order when you firm the parents, everything looks ok.

    Hi Sam

Could you explain further please? Which "template" are you talking about here and how is this applied to the BOM?

Templates are basically an Item that show up as Phantom in other items.

They get inserted into the parent.

The quantities aren't right if there are no Planned order for the Phantom line when firming the tree.

So not standard AX then? Phantoms are standard, but they are items set as phantoms. There are dynamic planned orders for pegging for phantoms, but I am not sure how you make a template have a planned order, unless you mean they simply were not configured for planning to plan!

Standard AX, Templates are just a second name we give to Items that are phantom.

When you have a planned item in your orders, you have BOM Line entries in the planning for the templates.

The bug happens when the BOM Line is alone and without a fulfilling planned production order for the phantom line.

If the planned order is there for the phantom bom line, then everything is ok.

What we did was a mod that when planning a new "planned order", we would run the planning too for each children.

    Standard and a mod :-)

yes if you design a phantom the item is to explode through but if there is nothing to explode to because it is not setup correctly it will give you issues. I am not sure this relates back to the original question, but if you have it sorted we can close it!
