Is there other way to create deploy package?

Hi

If we want to create deploy package in VS, we can just simple click Dynamics 365-> Deploy -> Create Deployment Package. Then select models we want to deploy.

However, I have some models which has Bin but does not have source code. When I create deploy package, those models are unselectable(reday-only).

Is there any other way we can create deploy package include them?

By the way, there all in VSTS. I hear there is way we can create a consolidated package via the DevOps build process. Is that real or not?

If it is real, can anyone provide some links for me to learn it.

          Thank you very much!

Best Regards,

JustZM

If you check in those binaries in your source control , you can create a single deployable  package  for all your models using build server.  Its recommended to use build server instead of using Dev VM to generate  deployable package.

Below link is good starting point to understand the process

    Hi Sukrut

Sorry, I go thought the your link and with Nikolaos' link

    https://community.dynamics.com/365/financeandoperations/b/365foroperationstechnical/posts/working-with-build-pipelines-build-definitions

I run the build pipelines. Now,I want to make sure this will only create a deploy package or will automatically apply all models to some environment?

             1. If automatically apply all models to some environment is yes:

                   1) If any models are wrong, will it cause error in environment.

                   2) If there is no environment connect to Azure DevOps, what will happen?

                   2) Since, I am using customer's LCS, they have a previous dev team. how can I check which environment connect to DevOps?

I am really first time to use this tool, it really confuses me now.

             Thank you very much!

When you run build it creates deployable package , which you can either manually apply to environment you want to you can automate it to upload to LCS and then apply to non production environment.

When you create build pipeline you specify  branch where you want  it to connect . Your build is going to pull code from that particular branch folder.

    Hi Sukrut

When I run the pipeline, I found it shows me "Pool:Default·Agent: Fronteo-Build01", this one is one of environments in LCS. Is that means deploy package will automatically apply to that environment?

Also when the deploy package is created, where I can find this deploy package? Still in the asset library?

Thank you very much for your help today.

    Best Regards,

    JustZM

As I said, unless you automate the task no package is going to be applied to any environment automatically . Below blog posts talks about uploading package to asset library in LCS and then deploy code

    community.dynamics.com/.../first-azure-devops-task-released

    community.dynamics.com/.../azure-devops-task-to-deploy-code

If you have build definition , you can go to the task and see build the solution task to figure it  from where its pulling the code

If you want to learn about agent pool , take a look at link below

    docs.microsoft.com/.../pools-queues
