we have some long running processes (<= 8hours). Mostly they are planned as NAS Jobs. But sometimes our keyusers start them via WinRTC in the afternoon. When their client restarts in the night because of Windowsupdates, is the NAV process on the NAV Server stopped?
We are using NAV 2013 R2.

Unless and until there is commit in the database, it shouldn't cause any issue. You must also be getting transactional backups in SSMS. In case of emergencies, it can help you resolve the inconsistency.

The tasks that a user runs from a client lives with the client session, so if you kill the client the tasks are interrupted (not exactly immediately).
A long running task like that should never be run in a user session.

Why don't you schedule the jobs through Job Queue or Disable the Windows Update temporarily
