Viewing report in Normal view

(0) ShareShare
ReportReport
Posted on by

Hi,

Is there any setting while print some report, that instead viewing in Normal, it is showing in Page Preview like ? What I mean Normal is like there is no page size boundary so that our column can spread whatever numbers it has.

I experience weird thing that suddenly my reports all is in Page Preview, so some of the columns falls into the next page. also the hyperlink in that case is not working.

Thanks

I have the same question (0)

    Hi WWwong,

    When did it happen?

If I understand you correctly you are talking about ReportViewer. The default report viewer will be replaced with PDF viewer, maybe it already happened with your environment? Could you, please, share some screenshots of how it looks like?

    Hi Sergei,

Yes, it does looks like a PDF viewer. So probably someone in my organisation update the system. But anyway, since it is deprecated, it means there 's no way to use that HTML anymore ? In terms of we only wants to see all the columns, actually it is good. As of now, because it is limited to Page size, that availability is gone., many of my reports now becomes more paper because all the column on the right move to next page.

Can we do something about it ?

    Here is the screenshot:

    Hi WWwong,

There was an update of the report viewer. You can find some details here: docs.microsoft.com/.../preview-pdf-documents

    Hi Christoph,

Thanks, this is quite surprising. Also about how to access the menu by means it's not have the "official" menu yet ?

However I tried to put the Preview feature to "No". There is an error which is quite fast for me to read and disappeared, but it looks like it is saying the feature is not supported and automatically revert back to PDF viewing.

    Thanks.

Btw, just noticed, there is no options for Print Destination to "Screen": anymore ?

... and my guess is those error above is because the report still pointing to "Screen". How to resolve this changes ?

I "could" mean how to bring back the Screen options again?

    Thanks

    Hi WWwong,

I assume you are talking about the account statement report. I just checked it in my environment (10.0.10). There I can see the screen option.

regarding the msg you received, I do net get any when I deactivate the checkbox. Maybe due to a different version than yours. If I deactivate the checkbox and print the report the document is not embedded any more but downloaded.

    Hi WWwong,

You said you can't see the "Screen" option, you are using on-premises?

If yes, then this option does not exist.

    Hi Christoph,

Actually account statement is only my sample. But now it makes me think someone maybe change this Print Destination, because at my environment now, no Screen option.

Do you know what class I should look into ?

    Thanks

    Hi WWwong,

I just did some further research and found this. Sounds like this is the new experience about reporting. www.yammer.com/.../

We have some exciting news to share with our Analytics & Reporting community. Click here for more details. In short, the next wave of investments in document reporting represents a significant advancement in the evolution of the Cloud hosted service. Back in PU23, we announced that we were Deprecating the Report Viewer control in anticipation of this upcoming change. And since then, we've made significant improvements in the service infrastructure to extend document generation capabilities.

Note: As of PU36, we will discontinue support for interactive features like embedded drill-down & drill-thru links, sub reports, and nested regions in document reports rendered by the Cloud hosted service. By default, paginated reports and documents will be displayed to screen using the embedded PDF viewer.
