Restrict Different Users with Different Posting Date Range (for Monthly End Closing Process)

Hi,

We are currently using NAV 2009 and would like to know if we can restrict certain user to different posting date to avoid wrong posting date? (for example, I would need to back date the posting date to Oct in begining of Nov for monthly end closing while other staff continues with Nov transaction. Can we restrict other staff with the posting date range from 11/01/2015..11/30/2015 while my posting date range from 10/01/2015..11/30/2015? Thank you for you help!

    As Suresh mentioned you can setup how system should pick posting date using sales & receivable setup.

    However in Dynamics NAV posting date is picked and assign to a document at the time of creating the document and users have the capability to change the posting date as they proceed.

    However there is no default setup of functionality available in the Dynamics NAV to change the posting date to current date at the time of posting. If you required to have this then you need to modify the system accordingly.

    (It is not recommended since all the calculations will be based on posting date)

    Yes, you can set that on Sales & Receivables setup using "Default Posting Date" field but that is while creating the order not while posting the order.

    i.e can we have the posting date for the SO to be set on the current date (always today's date), while the other documents still have the flexibility to change the posting date (i.e Purchase Order).

    Are you referring posting date on the documents (sales order, purchase order...) ?

    Hi Suresh,

    Thank you for the quick response!! If we wish to have set today's date as the posting date for today, can we have the system update "today's posting" automatically? (such as if all transactions are updated today with posting date 10/28/2015, the posting date will change to 10/29/2015 tomorrow without manually update the posting date for that user).

    You can restrict users by using user setup.
