Salesperson Commission

I have set up the commission information on a couple of our largest selling salespeople in GP, but I am unable to get any numbers to pull in Smartlist.    I have the salesperson ID set up, the name, territory ID filled in, and the commission percentage filled in.  Any idea what I might be missing?

    Hello,

This worked for me.  Perhaps you can run through this on your GP install to confirm.

    1.  I went to Cards | Sales | Salesperson, and selected my Salesperson and what TERRITORY ID they are in, and the commission %. (I used 10% commission).

    2. Then I went to Cards |Sales | Customer, and selected a customer ID.  You can add the Salesperson ID and Territory on to the Customer ID so it will default on to the invoice (or you can add it on the fly when keying an invoice for a customer.)  I made sure it was the same Territory ID that my salesperson above is in.

    3.  Then i keyed an invoice for $1,000 under Transactions | Sales | Transaction entry.  The salesperson ID and Territory ID defaults in.  Enter a sales amount of $1,000.00 and tab off.  Click on the COMMISSIONS button at the bottom right to see the salesperson, territory and commission % and amount.  The DISTRIBUTIONS button shows the commissions expense and commissions payables accounts were debited and credited with the 10% commission of $100.00.   Post.

    4.  I can query on the RM10501 commission work table to see the $100 commission calculated. (See grid below for SQL Table information.)

select SLSAMNT, PRCTOSAL as '%', COMDLRAM, * from RM10501 order by DEX_ROW_ID desc

    pastedimage1639520705841v1.png

    5.  Then I can go to Tools | Routines |Sales | Transfer Commission.  Click Process to transfer in detail.   You will then get a POSTING JOURNAL showing all the documents customer ID, salesperson, %, sales amount and commission amount.

    6.  Go to Reports | Sales | Commissions. and I ran the "Commission Distribution list by Salesperson, and printed it to the screen, and I could see the invoice and the $100 commission amount.  There are several reports you can run in detail or in summary.

NOTE: I don't see a 'canned' smartlist for commissions, so just make sure your smartlist is pulling from the RM10501 - RM commission work file table.  But first make sure it DID calculate in GP before you try to pull it on to a smartlist.

    RESOURCES:

    • See Chapter 2 for setup:
    docs.microsoft.com/.../receivables-management

    • See Chapter 16 for transaction entry and distributing commissions:
    https://docs.microsoft.com/en-us/dynamics-gp/financials/receivables-management-part2-transaction-entry#chapter-16-commissions

Hopefully you can run through the steps above to confirm that the commission is calculating and then you can set your Smartlist  up on the RM10501 table or use one of the many reports in GP already for commissions.

Hope that helps,  Please mark as 'answer' if this helps you.

    Cheryl -

Thank you so much for the response.  I have made note of adding the territory in the customer card.  We don't use GP for our sales orders.  Our invoices process thru a proprietary system and then drop in to GP.  Will the commission amounts still pull?

How are you getting these sales invoices into GP? Integration Manager or some other import tool. Sounds like your integrations need to be updated to include sales territories and sales people and perhaps commissions. If you are using eConnect this will be a must.

I believe the invoices get in to GP thru Integration Manager

Correction - we use E-connect.  Is this something the company that maintains our GP can update for me?

Integration Manager can use eConnect or you can have a standalone application using eConnect. Are these sales invoices that start as AR invoices(Transaction->Sales->Transaction Entry) or Sales Trtansaction Entry Invoices(Transactions->Sales->Sales Order Entry)? Either way the routines that are bringing in these invoices need to be updated to include the sales person information and the commission amounts. Think of how this would work as if you are entering the invoices manual. The commission would be computed automatically. There is a flag in eConnect that must be set to do the same. Whoever is writing your code should know how to set this.

Thank you for your help.  I will get with our people and see if they can make the updates for me.
